Vipers SC climbed into 3rd on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League thanks to a 2-0 victory over SC Villa on Tuesday.
The Venoms struck once in either half to ensure they won their 4th game on the trot.
Yunus Sentamu scored the opener for the Venoms but Villa’s chances of a comeback were all but over after Davis Ssekajja was sent off early in the second half.
Substitute Karim Watambala doubled the advantage in the second half to confirm what was a deserved maximum points.
Vipers started the better side an almost scored early when Yunus picked Bright Anukani just outside the box only for the midfielder to fire over the bar.
Yunus later benefited from a goalkeeper blunder who came out to fumble with Anukani freekick to bundle into unguarded net.
Few minutes into the second half, Ssekajja was sent off by referee Marushid Ssali after the midfielder elbowed Milton Karisa as they raced for the ball.
But Villa, who had already introduced on Travis Mutyaba, remained a threat and almost found a leveller only for Kakande to force a save from goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza.
Watambala then produced a final punch when he volleyed in from outside the box to leave the goalkeeper rooted to his line.
The win takes Vipers to 20 points from eight games and they now sit just a point behind leaders Wakiso Giants who have played two games more.
For Villa, this was their 4th loss of the season and drop to 4th on the standings.
