Uganda Cranes midfielder and captain Khalid Aucho and his compatriots Taddeo Lwanga and Denis Onyango will be aspiring for the CAF Champions League group stage on Saturday.
The Ugandan trio and their clubs will be in action tonight as the preliminaries climax in the second leg of the second and final round of the qualifiers.
Aucho’s Young Africans will host Ethiopian side Ethiopia Nigd Bank at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Coming into today’s game, Yanga edged Nigd 1-0 in Ethiopia through Prince Dude’s goal in the first leg.
The 30-year-old Ugandan played fulltime and the same is expected tonight unless otherwise.
On the other hand, Lwanga played an hour in APR’s 1-1 stalemate against Egyptian outfit Pyramid in the first leg at home in Rwanda.
The former Vipers and Villa captain will once again play a part in what is set to be a tricky outing for the Rwandan side in Cairo.
Meanwhile, Ex-Cranes goalkeeper and captain Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns seem to have an easy job on their hands at the Loftus Masterpiece Moripe Stadium in Pretoria.
They defeated Mbabane Swallows 4-0 in the first leg played in Eswatini a week ago. Onyango will continue on the bench with South Africa’s goalkeeper and captain Ronwen Williams now fully fit.
Holders and record champions Al Ahly will be out to seal their place in the group stages when they host Kenyan side Gor Mahia in Egypt, a team they defeated 3-0 in the first leg in Kenya last week.
