The countdown to the 2024 Safari 7s tournament is officially on, with Uganda aiming to improve on last year’s performance, where they finished in third place.
The tournament, scheduled for October 11-13 in Nairobi, Kenya, will feature some of Africa’s top rugby sevens teams, with Zimbabwe and Tunisia also confirming their participation alongside Uganda.
While Uganda Sevens are not defending champions in the Safari 7s, they enter the competition on the back of their recent triumph in the Africa 7s, where they were crowned champions earlier this year.
Led by star player Ofoyrwoth Aaron, who was the MVP and top points scorer of last year’s Safari 7s, Uganda will be hoping to carry their continental success into the tournament and claim the 2024 Safari 7s title.
The Safari 7s, established in 1996, has grown into one of Africa’s premier rugby sevens competitions, drawing teams and spectators from across the continent.
In the women’s category, Uganda’s Lady Rugby Cranes are also preparing for a strong showing. After winning Gold at the last edition, they will be looking to replicate their success and further solidify their dominance in women’s rugby on the continent.
With teams like Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Tunisia also in the mix, the 2024 Safari 7s is shaping up to be a fiercely contested event.
