Both KCCA and Wakiso Giants have equal opportunity to go top of the Uganda Premier League log on Tuesday.
Ahead of their respective visits to Bright Stars and UPDF, the Kasasiro Boys and Purple Sharks are level on seven points.
KCCA are placed second while Wakiso find themselves in the third position and this is by virtue of goal difference after they have both won twice and drawn once so far.
They trail table leaders NEC by two points who have gathered maximum points after three outings but do not play until Thursday when they visit Express at Nakivubo.
However, it will not be a walk in the park for Abdallah Mubiru and Steven Bengo’s charges in Kavumba and Bombo, respectively.
Bright Stars has continued to prove itself as KCCA’s bogey side having a crack on the Kasasiro Boys at least once every season and will be chasing their first win of the season.
The last time KCCA completed a league double, defeating Bright Stars home and away, was in the 2016/17 season, picking up 2-1 victories on both occasions.
“We have recovered after our previous game. The game against Bright Stars comes a little soon but that is the nature of the job. We shall have a squad that will compete,” Mubiru noted.
Winger Ettiene Katenga was given compassionate leave following the death of his father, while the team captain, Julius Poloto, and midfielders Usama Arafat and Joao Gabriel remain unavailable due to injuries.
Mubiru’s side will look to build on from their 2-0 victory over Kitara at Lugogo on Friday as they look for their first win on the road, having drawn 1-1 with BUL on matchday two the last time they played away from home.
Meanwhile, Wakiso will be hoping to continue their dominance over UPDF a side they have defeated five times in seven league meetings.
But just like the Purple Sharks, the Army side has had a relatively fair start to the season, collecting four points only losing to table leaders NEC and will therefore be aiming to return to winning ways.
Wakiso have the UPL’s leading goal scorer so far in Herbert Asiimwe who has scored three goals so far and will be relying heavily on him at Bombo.
