FUFA Celebrates 100 Years of Football Excellence

The historic event took place at Maya Nature Resort in Wakiso, Buganda Region, where the organization’s Ordinary General Assembly was held.

FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim unveiled the official Centenary logo and announced that the celebrations would continue throughout the next year.

“We are immensely proud to reach this century mark,” Hassim said. “It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of countless individuals who have contributed to the growth of football in Uganda.”

Solomon Mudega, the FIFA Head of Development Programs-Africa, represented FIFA President Gianni Infantino at the event.

Infantino conveyed his congratulations to FUFA, commending the strides made in developing and promoting the game in Uganda.

As part of the celebrations, the FUFA President honoured four individuals from the Buganda Region for their outstanding contributions to Ugandan football.

Jamil Kasirye, a former Uganda Cranes goalkeeper, retired referees Edrisa Kiwanuka and Nsaali Ssemakula, and Lugazi FC Chairman Abdul Kawuulu Mwanje were all recognized for their significant impact on the sport.

The Ordinary General Assembly also saw new FUFA Members – Lugazi FC, Police FC, and Mbale Heroes FC officially admitted as new members of FUFA.

A proposed budget of 41.114 Billion Shillings was also approved for the next financial year during the General Assembly.

The Electoral Committee that will oversee the upcoming FUFA elections in 2025 was appointed. Mathias Bwire will continue as Chairman, with Ritah Aliguma, Denis Ojwe, and Richard Mpaka Rwemulika serving as members.

The day concluded with a friendly football match between the FUFA President XI and the Parliamentary Football Team, capping off a memorable celebration of FUFA’s 100-year history.
