Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has won the Premier League Save of the Month award for September 2024.
The Cameroonian shot-stopper’s incredible double save against Crystal Palace, which included a diving stop to deny Eddie Nketiah’s long-range shot and a subsequent recovery to block Ismaila Sarr’s follow-up, has earned him widespread praise.
Onana’s heroics against Palace not only showcased his exceptional goalkeeping skills but also helped Manchester United secure a goalless draw at Selhurst Park.
This clean sheet was one of four he has recorded this season, putting him in contention for the Golden Glove award.
This is the second time Onana has won the Save of the Month award, having previously been honored in April for a stunning stop against Burnley’s Lyle Foster.
Onana will return to Uganda for Cameroon’s match against Kenya, which the Harambee stars are hosting in Uganda due to Kenya’s lack of CAF-approved facilities.
His previous visit during Cameroon’s match against Zimbabwe last month was marked by enthusiastic support from Ugandan supporters. It remains to be seen what welcome he will receive this time around given the game will be played behind closed doors.
