The inaugural event held at the Ruga Ruga Grounds was the Core 7s Qualifiers, a tournament aimed at determining the replacements for Impis, Warriors, and Kitgum Queens who were relegated from the National Rugby 7s Series.

A total of eight men’s and four women’s teams participated in the intense competition.

After a series of thrilling matches, Gulu City Falcons and Eagles Rugby Club emerged victorious in the men’s category, securing their promotion to the national 7s series for the upcoming year.

In the women’s competition, Walukuba Titans impressed with their performance, earning a well-deserved promotion.

The new venue provides a much-needed addition to the country’s sporting infrastructure, offering a facility for players and fans alike.

As the sport continues to gain popularity, the Ruga Ruga Grounds are expected to play a crucial role in nurturing young talent and fostering a vibrant rugby community.
