Wakiso Giants have confirmed that their key player, Herbert Asimwe, is out of immediate danger following a serious collision with Vipers SC goalkeeper, Denis Kiggundu, during Thursday’s match at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.
The incident occurred in the second half of Wakiso’s 2-0 defeat to Vipers, leading to a pause in play as medical staff rushed to Asimwe’s aid.
He was swiftly transported to St. Joseph Hospital, Wakiso, in an ambulance, where he received initial treatment.
According to the club’s official statement, Asimwe’s condition has stabilized, but he has been referred to St. Catherine Hospital in Kampala for further examination and assessment to determine the full extent of his injury.
The club reassured fans that the talented forward, often referred to as their “star boy,” is receiving the best possible care.
“Herbert is out of danger, and we hope for a quick recovery. He will undergo further tests in Kampala,” the statement read.
Wakiso Giants, currently 8th on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table, will be hoping for positive news on Asimwe’s condition as they prepare to face NEC on October 23 at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
