Vipers threw away a chance to go top of the Uganda Premier League table after a goalless draw against Express at a water-logged Wankulukuku.
The result helps Express end their four-game losing run for a side that came into Tuesday’s on the back of a 3-0 away loss to KCCA.
Allan Kayiwa, starting against his former side, was greatly involved and caused a lot of problems for Vipers.
But the Red Eagles failed to take care of their few chances to cause an upset.
Joshua Musoke was handed the best opportunity after a neat build up play, but fluffed a keeper-to-beat chance while Joseph Akandwanaho’s free kick was kept out by Fabien Mutombora.
Vipers who will blame the poor pitch conditions for the result, had Cromwell Rwothomio miss from point blank range while Marvin Youngman was denied by goalkeeper Denis Otim.
Milton Karisa shot over with a goal at his mercy after he was put through by Bright Anukani in the other chance.
It’s a set back for Vipers who would have gone level on points with KCCA, and their first draw in nine games.
In their next games, Express visit Maroons in Luzira on December 16 while Vipers welcome BUL at Kitende the following day.
