As the 2024/25 Finance Trust Bank Women Super League gains momentum, defending champions Kawempe have emerged as frontrunners in the October Monthly Awards nominations.
This recognition highlights the impressive performances of both players and coaching staff, showcasing the rising talent in Ugandan women’s football.
Kawempe has maintained an unbeaten streak, winning all four of their matches so far.
They achieved decisive victories with 3-0 scores against Rines and Wakiso Hills, along with a narrow 1-0 win against both Makerere and She Maroons.
This remarkable form has propelled striker Agnes Nabukenya to the top of the scoring charts with four goals, while goalkeeper Joseph Nambuya has impressively kept clean sheets in all four games.
Joining Nabukenya and Nambuya in the Player of the Month nominations is Angel Kigongo from Uganda Martyrs, who scored the decisive goal in their only win of the season against Tooro Queens.
In the Coach of the Month category, Kawempe’s head coach Ayub Khalifa is nominated alongside Faridah Bulega of newly promoted Amus College and Meddy Nyanzi of Lady Doves.
Currently, Kawempe leads the standings with maximum points, followed by Lady Doves and Amus College in second and third place, with eight and seven points, respectively.
This strong showing not only reinforces Kawempe’s dominance in the league but also underscores the growing competitiveness of women’s football in Uganda.
