The first contingent of Team Uganda, including members of the national athletics team and athletes from Seroma Christian High School, arrived safely at Entebbe International Airport early this morning.
The group, which traveled from Dubai on FlyDubai, returned from the 2024 ISF Gymnasiade Games held in Bahrain, where Uganda won three medals.
This initial group was warmly welcomed by family members, and sports officials at the airport.
The athletes received praise for their efforts, particularly those who contributed to Uganda’s medal tally, which included two silver medals in athletics and a bronze in boys’ doubles tennis.
The second contingent, which includes athletes and officials from Kibuli Secondary School, Rubaga Girls’ School, and Mbogo Schools, is expected to land tomorrow, November 2, on an EgyptAir flight.
This batch includes Adrian Troy Zziwa and Said Musa Kato from Kibuli Secondary School, the duo who clinched a bronze medal in boys’ doubles tennis with a 2-0 win over India.
Uganda’s performance at the Games saw the nation secure a 34th-place finish among 71 competing countries.
