JKL Lady Dolphins defeated the Gladiators 77-45 at the Amaan Indoor Sports Hall in Tanzania.
The Dolphins showcased remarkable coordination and offensive precision to secure their position in the ongoing Women’s Basketball League Africa (WBL-Africa) Zone 5 Qualifiers classification games.
Right from the start, JKL Lady Dolphins set the pace, establishing a substantial lead that grew quarter by quarter.
Key player Brenda Ekone led the charge with her scoring and aggressive defensive play, with notable contributions across the roster.
Flavia Oketcho and Ritah Imanshimwe both made critical plays, each adding points from well-timed three-pointers and assists, further widening the gap between the two teams.
Throughout the final quarter, the Gladiators fought to regain footing, but the Dolphins’ defense held firm.
The Gladiators’ offensive efforts, led by Keren Becky Longom and Francine Mukendi Tshimanga, faced challenges from JKL’s solid defensive rebounding and relentless pursuit of turnovers.
Despite their best efforts, including several notable rebounds and missed attempts for three-pointers, the Gladiators couldn’t break through JKL’s control over the game.
By the final whistle, the Dolphins secured their victory with a 32-point margin, reinforcing their position and momentum in the tournament.
The Dolphins will now face Equity Bank Kenya in the fifth place playoff match.
