Uganda’s Hosea Kiplangat achieved a sixth-place finish in the men’s 8km race at the 30th Cross Internacional de Soria, held on Sunday, November 10, 2024, in Soria, Spain.
Competing at an altitude of 1,100 meters, Kiplangat showed resilience against a strong field, which included top runners from Burundi, Ethiopia, and Kenya, in this fourth Gold-level meeting of the World Athletics Cross Country Tour.
The race unfolded with Burundi’s Egide Ntakarutimana setting a moderate early pace.
Kiplangat stayed close to the front pack, allowing himself to stay in contention as the race’s intensity increased.
By the third kilometer, Ethiopia’s Ayele Tadesse had quickened the pace, causing a split among the top runners.
Kiplangat held his position well, keeping within reach as the competition progressed.
As the race neared its final laps, Burundi’s Rodrigue Kwizera took control, with Kiplangat staying in the lead group.
Kwizera’s surge in the closing stages solidified his third victory at Soria, clocking in at 23:47.
Kiplangat ultimately finished sixth with a time of 23:40, only 23 seconds behind the winner.
