The Rugby Cranes are set for a high-stakes showdown this Saturday November 16 as they take on the Kenya Simbas in the decisive return leg of the Elgon Cup at the Kings Park Arena, Kampala.
Trailing by just two points on aggregate after a narrow 27-25 loss in Nairobi, the Cranes will be aiming to leverage their home advantage to overturn the deficit and secure the 2024 title.
Uganda’s premier sports channel NBS Sport has confirmed that it will broadcast the game live, making it accessible to viewers nationwide.
Speaking on the upcoming coverage, Victor Akatwijuka, Brand Manager at NBS Sport, said, “We’re excited to announce that NBS Sport will be broadcasting the return leg of the Elgon Cup between Uganda Cranes and Kenya Simbas live. This is only the beginning. In partnership with the Uganda Rugby Union, we’re committed to bringing more top-tier rugby action to Ugandans.”
He added, “This broadcast once more shows our dedication to championing Ugandan sports and delivering premium local content for all sports enthusiasts across the country.”
The first leg in Nairobi showcased intense back-and-forth action, with both teams taking turns to lead.
Despite initially falling behind, Uganda’s offense found rhythm just before halftime, establishing a narrow 14-12 lead.
The Cranes, however, were met with fierce resistance in the second half, as Kenya’s Brian Wahinya led the charge, propelling the hosts to a 24-17 advantage. Uganda narrowed the gap to 27-25, but ultimately could not overcome Kenya’s defense in the final minutes.
With only a two-point difference on aggregate, Saturday’s clash promises to be another tightly contested encounter. Fans are expected to pack the Kings Park Arena, rallying behind the Cranes as they aim for an Elgon Cup comeback.
The game will also be available for livestream on the revamped Afromobile app.
