The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has announced its highly anticipated capacity building and training program, scheduled to take place from December 8th to 14th, 2024.
This initiative aims to empower teachers and students with essential skills to elevate the standard of school sports across the country.
The program will be conducted simultaneously at seven strategically located venues which include:
* Lubiri SS, Kampala
* Bishop’s Senior School, Mukono
* Ntare School, Mbarara
* St. Mary’s College, Rushoroza
* St. Peter’s College, Tororo
* Sacred Heart College, Gulu
* Ngora High School
The program will offer both Level I and Level II courses, catering to diverse needs and experience levels.
Level I courses will focus on fundamental skills and knowledge, while Level II courses will delve deeper into specialized areas.
The key courses offered include:
* Football (coaching and refereeing)
* Volleyball
* Athletics
* Basketball
* Netball
* Handball
* Media
* Woodball
* Rugby
* Lacrosse
* First Aid and Injury Management
* Safeguarding
The USSSA capacity building program has proven to be a catalyst for launching successful careers in coaching, refereeing, umpiring, and sports journalism.
By equipping participants with the necessary skills and certifications, the program aims to contribute to the overall development of sports in Uganda.
