Paul Mucureezi is fit and ready to face his former club, KCCA, as NEC takes on the league leaders in a top-of-the-table Uganda Premier League clash.
The 31-year-old midfielder began his UPL career with KCCA in 2015, joining the Kasasiro Boys from Mutundwe Lions.
Since his departure from Lugogo in 2018, Mucureezi has faced KCCA while playing for three different teams—and now prepares to do so with a fourth.
A Journey Through Four Teams
After leaving KCCA in 2018, Mucureezi joined Mbarara City, where he first came up against his former side.
He then moved to Vipers in 2019, KCCA’s fierce rivals, and continued to face his old club.
In 2022, after completing his three-year stint with Vipers, Mucureezi signed with Kitara.
Notably, during his time with Kitara, he scored one of the three goals in a stunning 3-1 victory over KCCA at Masindi Stadium.
Now representing NEC, Mucureezi will be aiming to help his team surpass KCCA in the league standings.
NEC currently sits in third place with 16 points, just two points shy of KCCA at the top of the table.
Familiar Faces for KCCA
Mucureezi isn’t the only former KCCA player in the NEC squad.
Midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba and goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan are also expected to feature against their former club when NEC visits Lugogo on Thursday.
This encounter adds yet another chapter to Mucureezi’s decorated career, as he seeks to make an impact against a club where his journey in top-flight football began.
