Uganda is set to host the AfroBasket Ball women’s qualifiers, which are confirmed to start tomorrow, February 14th-19th.
The Uganda Gazzeles will be accompanied by Egypt, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Kenya in the five-team round robin tournament.
The Uganda Gazelles will be playing basketball for the first time since the 2018 FIBA Zone V Afrobasket Qualifiers held in Kampala.
In the past, the Gazzelles didn’t get a chance to play in the Afro Basket due to financial hardships, and the COVID-19 also played a huge role in making it difficult for them to be in the tournaments.
The Gazelles have been preparing for this tournament in that they have played buildup games in preparation for the big tournament, and they are confident.
Speaking to the Gazelles Captain on the #NextDugOut on Next Radio UG, she stated, “The beauty about the National Team is that you are not teaching them how to play basketball, you are aligning them.” – Gazelles Captain, Flirsh Flavia Oketcho
The games will be played at the MTN Arena Lugogo, and they will also be exclusively live on NBS Sport TV.
The champion, or top team, will qualify for the Women’s Afrobasket in Rwanda in July this year.
