The Uganda Gazelles started up the campaign for the Zone V Afrobasket qualifiers with a loss against Kenya in a game that ended 61-53.
The Kenyan side was dominant and ruled in most of the games, winning all four quarters.
The Ugandan side missed so many chances to make baskets, which the Kenyans didn’t take lightly and making a lot of three-pointers helping them win.
Quarter one ended with Kenya leading 16–7 over Uganda, the second quarter saw Kenya leading by 34–25, and the third quarter ended with Kenya at 43 and Uganda at 42 points. The fourth quarter saw Kenya beat Uganda by 8 points.
Debutant Jannon Otto emerged as the Uganda Gazelles’ top scorer and making so many blocks. Defensively.
In other news, earlier today, Egypt beat South Sudan 83-68.
