Queen Cranes Eye Historic Spot in 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup

Uganda’s U-20 women’s national football team, the Queen Cranes, is gearing up for a challenging journey toward the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.

CAF conducted the qualifiers draw on Thursday at its headquarters in Cairo, mapping out a path that will see 38 African nations compete for just four available slots.

The Queen Cranes will begin their campaign in the second round, where they face Namibia in September 2025.

The qualification process promises to be intense, with teams engaging in four knockout rounds of home-and-away fixtures.

Uganda enters the fray in the second round, bypassing the preliminary phase due to their ranking.

Should they overcome Namibia, the Queen Cranes will advance to the third round in early 2026, bringing them closer to making history by qualifying for the World Cup for the first time.

The final knockout stage in May 2026 will determine Africa’s four representatives at the global tournament.

The 2026 U20 Women’s World Cup is scheduled for August 2026 and will feature 24 nations.
