Ugandan music icon Moses Ssali, popularly known as Bebe Cool, has expressed his support for his son Alpha Thierry Ssali’s football career, acknowledging the challenges the young winger has faced since joining Express.
Alpha, a graduate of the Proline Football Academy, signed a two-year contract with the Red Eagles in 2023 but has struggled for consistent playing time this season.
With his contract nearing its expiration, Bebe Cool revealed that they are exploring various options to ensure Alpha’s continued development.
“Alpha’s journey at Express has had its ups and downs, which is expected for any player in a new environment,” Bebe Cool stated. “We are carefully weighing all the available options and doing everything we can to help him achieve his goals.”
The musician, a vocal supporter of Ugandan football, emphasized the importance of parental involvement in nurturing young athletes.
Speaking at the 2024/25 Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 64 draw at Serena Hotel, Bebe Cool urged parents to actively support their children’s sporting endeavors.
“Parents should actively engage in their children’s sporting lives, understanding their performance, welfare, and progress,” he advised. “Make time to watch them play. Children thrive on the encouragement and support of their loved ones.”
The 51st edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup is set to kick off this Friday, with a number of exciting fixtures lined up.
Reigning champions Kitara will face Young Simba, while SC Villa will take on Sseeta United. Other notable matches include Tepa FC hosting Vipers SC, KCCA facing 403 Brigade, and Express battling Red Devils.
