Harambee Stars showcased their dominance with a convincing 2-0 victory over Kilimanjaro Stars in their second group-stage match of the 2025 Mapinduzi Cup at Gombani Stadium, Zanzibar.
After a tightly contested goalless first half, Kenya seized control in the second period. Boniface Muchiri opened the scoring in the 55th minute, taking advantage of sustained pressure from the Kenyan offense.
Ryan Ogam doubled the lead in the 67th minute, marking his first goal for the senior national team and sealing Kenya’s triumph.
With this result, Kenya now tops their group with four points, edging Burkina Faso on goal difference.
The team will next face hosts Zanzibar on Friday, January 10, 2025, in a match scheduled to kick off at 7:00 PM at Gombani Stadium.
The Mapinduzi Cup serves as a crucial platform for the participating teams to fine-tune their strategies ahead of CHAN 2024, a tournament Kenya will co-host alongside Uganda and Tanzania in February.
