Bukedea Comprehensive School has kick-started preparations for the new Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) football calendar, holding trials at NEC training grounds in Bugolobi on Tuesday.
Focused on nurturing talent and promoting education, the school plans to offer bursaries to selected students.
Over 300 participants showcased their skills, with 40 standout players chosen by the technical team.
These exceptional talents, ranging from midfield maestros to defensive stalwarts, will head to Bukedea for a training camp starting January 15.
Targeting players aged 12-16 in S1 and S2, Bukedea aims to groom future football stars while building on past achievements.
Fourth Place in the 2024 USSSA Games (Masaka).
Fourth Place in the FEASA Games (co-hosted with Amus College).
Third Place at the 2024 World Schools Football Championships in China.
These successes have spurred school administrators to set higher goals for 2025.
“We’re not here to compete for fun,” said Sports Project Manager Fred Katende Malibu.
“We’re here to win. With our five-year project, we aim to make Bukedea Comprehensive the top footballing school in Uganda, East Africa, and beyond.”
Owned by the Speaker of Parliament, RT Hon. Anita Annet Among, Bukedea Comprehensive continues to receive unwavering support for its sporting endeavors.
The school’s preparations include light buildup games as they aim to dominate upcoming competitions.
Bukedea’s vision combines academics and football, ensuring talented players get the opportunity to excel on and off the pitch.
