The Tanzania National Organizing Committee for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 has called for applications for volunteers to support the CHAN 2024 tournament which Tanzania will co-host alongside Kenya and Uganda.
Scheduled from February 1 to February 28, 2024, the event is expected to draw significant international attention as East Africa plays host to one of Africa’s premier football competitions.
The committee is calling upon Tanzanians aged 18 to 40 who are passionate about sports and national pride to step forward and play a pivotal role in ensuring the tournament’s success.
Volunteers will assist in various capacities, including event organization, logistics, and team coordination.
Applicants must meet several criteria to be considered for the program. These include Tanzanian citizenship, proficiency in Kiswahili and English, a minimum education level of Form Four, and a willingness to commit their time throughout the tournament.
Additional skills, such as proficiency in foreign languages, technology expertise, or prior experience in sports events, will be viewed as added advantages.
Neema Y. Msitha, the Secretary of the Tanzania National Organizing Committee, emphasized the importance of teamwork and dedication among volunteers.
“We are seeking individuals with the enthusiasm and patriotism to contribute to this international event. It’s an opportunity to showcase Tanzanian hospitality and organizational excellence on the global stage,” she said in a statement.
Applicants must also provide a recommendation letter from their local government office and be ready to remain in the tournament’s host areas for the event’s entire duration.
Interested individuals are required to submit their applications via the official website, www.chantz2024.com. The deadline for applications is January 13, 2025.
The CHAN 2024 tournament is poised to boost East Africa’s profile as a hub for sports tourism, with thousands of fans and participants expected to attend.
