Uganda’s sports sector has today, Tuesday 28th March 2023 witnessed a historic event with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) and Kabojja International School.
The Partnership aimed at promoting the Olympic Values and Sports at the school was presided over by UOC’s President Donald Rukare and the Commissioner for Gender Equality and Diversity Annet Nakamya. Kabojja was represented by the Principal Sam Turya and the Head of Sports Baker Kyambadde.
An elated Rukare said, “We are very happy to announce this partnership. The Partnership is looking at how we can promote Olympism and the whole idea of education and culture through several activities that are going to be carried on in the coming period together.”
He further thanked Kabojja management for allowing them to partner and that he believes that it’s through these kinds of partnerships that they can be able to not only spread Olympism and the whole idea of the Olympic movement but also the sports side of it because Kabojja has a very strong culture in sports, excellent facilities and are still building more.
This partnership will see the UOC stage events including the Olympic Values contests aimed at engaging young people to challenge, interact and share about Olympism and contemporary issues affecting Sports among others.
UOC will also train teachers and students in Olympism and provide material and necessary equipment through programs such as the IOC Olympic Solidarity and sports management courses.
