Paris Saint-Germain Sign Georgian Winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli

Paris Saint-Germain have made a significant splash in the transfer market, signing Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Italian champions Napoli.

The 23-year-old, who will wear the iconic number seven shirt, becomes the first Georgian player in the club’s history.

While the official transfer fee remains undisclosed, French media reports suggest PSG will pay a hefty sum of €70 million, potentially rising with performance-based bonuses.

Kvaratskhelia, a rising star in world football, enjoyed a breakout season with Napoli in 2022-23, earning the Serie A Player of the Year award.

“It’s an honor to be able to wear the PSG shirt,” Kvaratskhelia expressed in an interview with the club’s official website. “It was a dream for me to play for one of the biggest teams in the world. I’m very happy.”

Kvaratskhelia’s arrival injects a dose of attacking flair into the PSG squad, adding competition for places on the left wing with French international Bradley Barcola.

He could potentially make his debut for the club as early as Saturday when they face Lens in a crucial Ligue 1 encounter.

However, the Georgian winger will be ineligible to participate in PSG’s upcoming Champions League matches against Manchester City and VfB Stuttgart.

He can only be added to the Champions League squad if the club progresses to the knockout stages.
