Arua Hill SC 0-1 Vipers SC
Barifa Stadium, Arua
Tuesday, April 25
Vipers SC ensured they keep up pace with the StarTimes Uganda Premier League leading pack of SC Villa and KCCA FC as they defeated Arua Hill 1-0 in Arua.
Striker Abubakar Lawal scored the winning goal of the contest inside the opening offside. Lawal saw what looked like a tame effort creep below the hosts’ custodian Rogers Omedwa’s body to hand the Venoms a lead they would never relinquish.
He could’ve added a second just before halftime but his effort was wrongly ruled out for offisde.
For Arua Hill who came into the contest kn the back of a slim victory over SC Villa, they barely got going especially in the opening half.
They however improved in the second forcing Fabian Mutombora into several decent saves including one that saw him clear a fierce drive from distance, off the line.
The three points take Vipers tally for the season to 39 points, two and four points behind the top two of KCCA and Villa, respectively.
On the other hand, this is Arua Hill’s 9th loss of the season and it sees them stay 5th on the standings with 33 points from 22 games.
In their next fixtures, Vipers are away to SC Villa at Wankulukuku on Saturday while Arua Hill travels to Onduparaka the day before.
In the other games played on Tuesday, Fred Amaku scored the only goal of the game as Maroons defeated UPDF FC 1-0 in Luzira while Allan Kayiwa converted a second half penalty in Express’ 1-1 draw at Bright Stars.
