The Uganda Gazelles are quickly adjusting to life in Cairo as they gear up for the FIBA Zone V Qualifiers.
Head coach Nicholas Natuhereza has expressed confidence in the team’s adaptation to the new environment, noting that the players are focused and in good shape ahead of their opening game.
“We have been adjusting well to the new environment. The weather is a little cold, but we are staying next to where we are training from, and this limits the travel and gives us more rest time,”
Natuhereza explained. The team has already conducted drills to help the players settle in, with the coach optimistic that they will have a full squad assembled by Monday.
With just days to go before their first match, the Gazelles are maintaining sharpness and unity.
Agatha Kamwada spoke about the team’s readiness, emphasizing their shared commitment to the mission.
“So far, we are on the same page. We can’t wait to get started. We are ready to ball and make our nation proud,” Kamwada said.
The team’s health remains a key positive, with no injuries reported as they finalize their preparations.
With all players healthy, focused, and steadily adapting to Cairo’s conditions, the Gazelles are determined to give their best in their quest for a spot at the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket.
