Phiona Nabulime has sealed a move to Egyptian side FC Masar, leaving Kawempe Muslim LFC after a successful stint as captain.
The midfielder follows in the footsteps of former club leaders, having taken over the captaincy last year after Aisha Nantongo’s departure.
Now, with Nabulime also moving abroad, the club has turned to its teenage sensation, Agnes Nabukenya, to lead the team going forward.
At Masar, Nabulime will be joining fellow Ugandans Aisha Nantongo and former UCU Lady Cardinals defender Shadia Nankya.
FC Masar, the reigning champions of the Egyptian Women’s Premier League, has been a dominant force in Egyptian women’s football in the recent past.
The club also won back-to-back Egyptian Women’s Cups and secured a third-place finish in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.
While details of Nabulime’s contract remain undisclosed, her move comes shortly after another Kawempe Muslim player, Hadijah Nandago, left the club weeks ago to join India’s Sethu FC in the Indian Women’s Super League.
By joining Sethu, Nandago united with forward Amnah Nababi, another former Kawempe Muslim player, who joined the Indian side last October.
