Ugandan forward Charles Bbaale made an instant impact on his debut for Gor Mahia, playing a key role in their hard-fought 2-1 victory over Mathare United at the Dandora Stadium on Saturday.

Bbaale was introduced in the second half by head coach Sinisa Mihic, who was overseeing his first match in charge.

The forward wasted no time in making his presence felt, nearly scoring in the 72nd minute with a powerful strike that forced Mathare goalkeeper Robert Mboya into a crucial save.

His energy and movement in the attacking third troubled Mathare’s defense, adding a new dimension to Gor Mahia’s attack.

Four minutes later, Gor Mahia’s pressure paid off when substitute Samuel Kapen was brought down inside the box. While Bbaale did not take the penalty, his influence in stretching Mathare’s defense was evident.

Ghanaian midfielder Enock Morrison calmly slotted home from the spot, sealing the comeback win.

Bbaale’s arrival at Gor Mahia had been met with intrigue, with some questioning whether the Ugandan striker could adapt quickly to the FKF Premier League.

However, his debut performance silenced the skeptics, showcasing his technical ability and attacking instincts.

With Gor Mahia eyeing the league title, Bbaale’s contributions could prove vital in the second half of the season.

The team currently sits third on the table with 34 points, while Mathare United will be left to rue their missed chances as they seek a turnaround in their next fixture.
