Three-time Stanbic Uganda Cup winners Vipers SC have been handed a tricky fixture against fellow Uganda Premier League side Mbarara City in the Round of 32, following today’s draw at the FUFA Complex.
The Venoms, who last lifted the cup in the 2022/23 season after edging Police FC 1-0, will be aiming for their fourth title.
However, they will be wary of past disappointments, having suffered a quarterfinal exit last season at the hands of eventual champions Kitara after a penalty shootout in Masindi.
The clash will be played at Vipers’ St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende between February 19 and 28, 2025.
With previous Uganda Cup triumphs in 2016, 2021, and 2023, the Venoms will be determined to add another trophy to their cabinet, while Mbarara City seeks to make history by clinching their first.
Beyond the Vipers-Mbarara City showdown, the draw produced other thrilling matchups, including two more all-Uganda Premier League clashes.
Maroons will host Wakiso Giants, while the Kavumba derby will see Police take on Soltilo Bright Stars.
Defending champions Kitara will continue their title defense away at CATDA FC, while joint record 10-time winners KCCA and Express travel to Kuluva Rainbow and Total FC respectively.
Notably, SC Villa, who are aiming for their 10th Uganda Cup trophy, will visit Simba.
