Juventus Football Club has reportedly made a bid for Atalanta’s star forward, Ademola Lookman, offering Douglas Luiz plus €13 million.
The move signals Juventus’s strong interest in the Nigerian international, who has been in impressive form for La Dea.
Lookman, 27, has become a sought-after player after his stellar performances for Atalanta.
Since joining the club in 2022, he has amassed an impressive 46 goals and 25 assists in 106 appearances across all competitions.
His hat-trick in last season’s Europa League final further solidified his reputation as a top-tier talent.
Despite interest from clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, and PSG last summer, Atalanta managed to retain his services.
However, the transfer speculation surrounding Lookman has not subsided. Rumors linking him to Juventus have been circulating for the past two weeks, and now, it appears the Turin giants have made a concrete move.
Dire Giovani reports that Juventus is willing to part with Douglas Luiz, a midfielder they acquired last summer for €51 million, in addition to a €13 million cash payment.
Atalanta’s willingness to accept this offer remains uncertain. While they have midfield depth, they may be reluctant to lose any key players.
Their preferred option would likely be a straight cash deal, reportedly valuing Lookman at €55 million.
Furthermore, Douglas Luiz’s performance at Juventus has not fully justified his hefty price tag, making Atalanta potentially hesitant to acquire him.
Lookman’s contract situation adds another layer of complexity to the potential transfer. His current contract with Atalanta runs until 2026, with an option for a one-year extension.
However, it’s unclear whether Lookman intends to renew. If he declines an extension, Atalanta might be forced to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for free.
While Lookman’s market value is estimated at €55 million by Transfermarkt, Atalanta could demand a higher fee.
The Nigerian forward has previously expressed a preference for a return to the Premier League, where he began his career. This desire could influence his decision and potentially give English clubs an edge in the race for his signature, should he decide against the move to Turin.
