Mt. St. Mary’s College Namagunga will host the Chloe Memorial Sports Tournament on February 22-23, 2025, an event dedicated to honouring the legacy of former student and lacrosse captain, Nyongore Chloe Innocent.
The annual tournament brings together students, alumni, and invited teams to compete in lacrosse, basketball, lawn tennis, volleyball, netball, and chess.
More than just a competition, the event celebrates teamwork, sportsmanship, and young athletic talent while strengthening bonds among participants.
Chloe, who began her lacrosse journey in 2022 as a Senior Two student, became a key figure in the school’s program.
By 2024, she captained her team to a respectable fifth-place finish at the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Non-FEASSSA Games in Soroti City.
However, her promising career was cut short when she succumbed to severe malaria on September 19, 2024. She was laid to rest in Rwentuha village, Bushenyi District, on September 22, 2024.
The tournament stands as a tribute to Chloe’s passion, resilience, and leadership.
Through this event, Mt. St. Mary’s College Namagunga continues to uphold the values she embodied, ensuring her legacy remains a source of inspiration for future generations.
