Lunyolo, a trailblazer in Ugandan women’s rugby, was among the first five women to play the sport in the country, beginning her journey in 2002.

She is also the founder of the Entebbe Lady Rugby Swans Club, a team dedicated to nurturing female rugby talent.

Additionally, she serves as the Head of Membership and Recruitment in the Africa Women in Sport Initiative, further cementing her commitment to the advancement of women in sports.

Her appointment to the Communication WRAC Working Group places her alongside notable figures from across the continent, including Zeena Isaacs-Van Tonder (South Africa), Rafatu Inusah (Ghana), Christel Janet Kotze (Namibia), Fatma El-kindiy (Tanzania), Donatienne Rasoampamonjy (Madagascar), Isabelle Adjoa (Côte d’Ivoire), and Donatien Uitimfura (Rwanda).

The working group is tasked with shaping and implementing communication strategies that highlight WRAC’s initiatives, engage key stakeholders, and advocate for the growth of women’s rugby.

As a member, Lunyolo will contribute to developing and executing communication plans, managing media relations, and amplifying the voices of women in the sport.

Announcing the appointments, WRAC Chairperson Paulina Lanco emphasized the critical role the committee plays in ensuring women’s rugby gains greater recognition and support.

“Your expertise and dedication will be invaluable in advancing WRAC’s mission, and we are confident that your participation will make a significant impact,” Lanco stated.

Lunyolo’s appointment is a significant milestone for Uganda’s rugby scene, highlighting the country’s growing influence in sports administration on the continental stage.
