Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton has expressed his ambition to win the FA Cup with the Eagles.
In an interview with News Shopper, Wharton emphasized the importance of their upcoming fifth-round tie against Millwall, highlighting the significance of the derby for the fans.
“We have to win and get to the next round of the FA Cup,” Wharton stated. “It is a massive game for the fans. We go into it the same as we do every game, trying to win and progress into the next round.”
The match marks the first time the two south London rivals have met at Selhurst Park since 2012. While Palace claimed a 2-1 victory in their last FA Cup encounter in 2022 at The Den, Wharton is focused on the present.
“When the atmosphere is good, then it is always nice to play in those games. It was top against Aston Villa, probably the best it has been this season. If the atmosphere is top, then hopefully we can back it up with the performance.”
Wharton, who recently made his first Premier League start after a period on the sidelines, is confident in his team’s chances in the competition.
“Hopefully, we can get through to the later stages of the FA Cup and be close or have a chance at winning a trophy. Absolutely [we can win it].”
A win against Millwall would put Crystal Palace one step closer to a potential trip to Wembley.
