With the 2025 USSSA National Championships on the horizon, schools across the country have been actively reshuffling their squads, securing top-performing athletes in a bid to bolster their dominance.
The high-stakes transfer window, facilitated through the USSSA Online registration system, has seen intense business between institutions, with teams racing to finalize deals before the March 7 deadline.
As of February 27, 2025, the transfer landscape paints a compelling picture of schools strengthening their rosters while others experience significant outflows.
Royal Giant High School leads the recruitment race with 13 new athletes joining its ranks, followed by St. Noa Girls – Zana with 8 and Kibuli Secondary School with 7.
Other active recruiters include Amus College School, St. Julian High School Seeta, and Jinja Progressive S.S, each securing six new talents.
On the flip side, Bukedea Comprehensive School has seen the highest number of exits, losing 14 athletes, while Greenlight Islamic Secondary School follows closely with 13 departures.
St. Mathias Secondary School Magada (7), Amus College School (6), and Jinja Senior Secondary School (6) have also experienced significant outflows.
A notable trend in this transfer period has been the business conducted directly between competing schools.
St. Noa Girls – Zana and Bukedea Comprehensive School exchanged four athletes, while Jinja Senior Secondary School and Jinja Progressive S.S completed three transfers between them.
Similarly, Kibuli Secondary School and Amus College School, as well as Royal Giant High School and Greenlight Islamic Secondary School, also saw three athlete swaps each.
Other significant moves include six athletes heading to Dynamic Secondary School, five to St. Mary’s Kitende, and four each to Kyaddondo SS Matugga, St. Bernard SSS Mannya, Kalisizo Seed School, and Fortportal S.S.
St. Mathias Secondary School Magada also lost four students to Kigulu High School Bukoona, while three students each transferred from Bukedea Comprehensive School to St. Julian High School Seeta and from Jinja Senior Secondary School to Royal Giant High School.
With the transfer window set to close on March 7, the final days are expected to be frantic, as schools and athletes scramble to get deals over the line.
The transferred students will be eligible to represent their new schools from the district qualifiers through to the zonal and national stages.
However, the rules remain firm—each athlete is only allowed one transfer per sports year, ensuring stability within the school sports ecosystem.
