The Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) has announced the LYCA Women’s Day Series, a high-profile T20 international women’s cricket tournament set to take place from March 7 to March 17, 2025, at the Entebbe Cricket Oval.
The tournament will feature Uganda’s national women’s team, the Victoria Pearls, alongside Nepal, Namibia, and Hong Kong in what promises to be a competitive and thrilling series.
The Victoria Pearls will look to leverage home advantage against formidable opposition, with each participating nation fielding a mix of seasoned players and emerging talents.
The tournament serves as both a platform for international women’s cricket and a celebration of International Women’s Day, emphasizing the growth and empowerment of women in the sport.
“We are excited to host this prestigious tournament and welcome our fellow cricketing nations to Uganda. The LYCA Women’s Day Series is not just about competition; it’s about celebrating the progress of women’s cricket and inspiring future generations,” said Lelia Namaganda Ondeko, Women’s Representative on the Uganda Cricket Association.
The competition will kick off on March 8, with Uganda facing Hong Kong in the morning fixture, followed by a clash between Namibia and Nepal in the afternoon.
Each team will play multiple matches in the round-robin stage before the top two teams battle for the title in the final on March 16. A third-place playoff will also be held earlier that day.
