Newcomers Nottingham Forest Show Strength as Uganda’s Kadondi Shines in Defense

Nottingham Forest made a strong first impression in their first official competition as a top-flight netball club, reaching the semi-finals of the inaugural Netball Super Cup.

The newly admitted franchise, backed by the Premier League football club, showcased their potential despite a narrow 15-13 defeat to Leeds Rhinos in the last four.

Among the standout performers for Forest was goal defender Faridah Kadondi, who put on a commanding display throughout the tournament.

The Ugandan international, known for her agility and defensive prowess, played a crucial role in Forest’s victories over Birmingham Panthers and London Mavericks in the group stage.

Her ability to disrupt attacking plays and win turnovers made a significant impact, particularly in the closely contested semi-final against Leeds.

Forest’s entry into the Netball Super League (NSL) marks a new chapter in domestic netball, with the league moving towards professionalisation.

Their impressive start, combined with Kadondi’s stellar defensive efforts, sets an encouraging tone ahead of their first NSL fixture against London Pulse on 16 March.

With the introduction of new rules—including no draws and the super shot, which allows shooters to score two points from designated areas—Forest will look to build on their early promise.

As one of the two new franchises in the league alongside Birmingham Panthers, they are determined to establish themselves among the elite.
