KCCA travel to Bombo Barracks Military Ground with history on their side but form against them as they face a tricky UPDF side in a Uganda Premier League encounter.

The Kasasiro Boys have dominated this fixture in recent years, going 13 matches unbeaten against UPDF, with eight wins and five draws.

However, their struggles on the road and inconsistent performances this season suggest this might not be as straightforward as past meetings.

After a six-game winless streak, KCCA finally found their scoring touch in a 5-0 demolition of Mbale Heroes.

That emphatic victory provided a much-needed confidence boost and coach Abdallah Mubiru is eager to use it as a turning point.

“We have prepared well against UPDF FC, which has always been a stubborn opponent for us. The boys have trained well all week; the mood in camp is high, and we hope to use our previous game as a momentum shift,” Mubiru said.

KCCA, currently sixth with 28 points, have struggled for consistency this season. Their away form has been particularly worrying, as they are winless in their last four matches on the road.

Adding to their concerns, they will be without Mustafa Mujuzi and Steven Munguchi due to injuries.

Although Etienne Katenga and Hassan Muhamud have returned to training, they are not yet fit for selection. The return of Ashraf Mugume, however, adds creativity and experience to the squad.

UPDF, sitting 10th with 24 points, will be looking to build on their solid second-round performances.

Despite losing their last game 2-1 to URA, they have won two of their previous three matches, including an impressive 2-0 victory over defending champions SC Villa.

Playing at home, Paul Kiwanuka’s side will be confident of securing their first win over KCCA since the 2015/16 season.

The return of key players like Christopher Kawagu, Samuel Ssekamatte, and Shakib Mayanja further strengthens their cause.

UPDF will rely on their home advantage, but KCCA’s superior head-to-head record and newfound confidence could tilt the scales in their favour.
