Regional side Rwenzori Lions stand between the KCCA and a coveted spot in the Uganda Cup quarterfinals, as both teams prepare for a high-stakes encounter.
For KCCA, this competition has taken on added significance following their recent stumble in the league title race.
Coach Abdallah Mubiru has rallied his troops, urging them to approach the game with focus and determination.
“We respect our opponents, but our goals in this competition are far bigger than theirs,” Mubiru asserted. “For Rwenzori Lions, reaching this stage is an achievement, but for us, only lifting the Uganda Cup will meet our expectations.”
The team will be without pivotal players Gavin Kizito and Brian Ijara, who are away on national duty, as well as Mustafa Mujuzi and Steven Munguchi, who remain sidelined by injuries.
However, KCCA has been bolstered by the return of their influential captain, Julius Poloto, alongside the dynamic winger Ettiene Katenga and the ever-dependable centre-back Hassan Muhamood.
