UEFA has launched an investigation into claims of indecent conduct by four Real Madrid players following their dramatic Champions League last-16 victory over Atletico Madrid.
The quartet, including Antonio Rudiger, Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr, and Dani Ceballos, are accused of making offensive gestures towards the Atletico Madrid supporters after securing their place in the quarter-finals through a penalty shootout.
Among the incidents under scrutiny, Rudiger was reportedly seen making a throat-slitting motion, while Mbappe appeared to make a controversial hand gesture.
Spanish media reported that Atletico Madrid filed an official complaint with UEFA last week, prompting the football governing body to appoint an ethics and disciplinary inspector to examine the allegations.
A UEFA spokesperson confirmed that further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
The outcome of the probe could result in suspensions for the players involved.
However, it remains uncertain whether any disciplinary actions will be resolved before Real Madrid’s highly anticipated quarter-final matchup against Arsenal, set to begin on April 8 at the Emirates Stadium.
