Uganda Netball Federation President, Hon. Babirye Sarah Kityo, Returns to Office After 3 Months Leave Amidst Investigation

Uganda Netball Federation President, Hon. Babirye Sarah Kityo, has returned to her position after a three-month leave of absence. The leave was taken to facilitate a special committee’s investigation, initiated by the Minister of Sports and Education, Janet Museveni, in response to allegations of abuse of office and financial mismanagement.

During her time on leave, Hon. Sarah Babirye Kityo was remanded to Luzira prison on charges of obtaining Shs16 million by false pretence, although the case was later resolved outside court.

In an  interview with Andrew Kabuura on NBS Sport on Friday morning , she expressed her gratitude to God for not being convicted during her absence and maintained her innocence. She clarified that she had not yet received the investigation reports but emphasized her commitment to fulfill her role as president of the federation.

Hon. Sarah Babirye Kityo acknowledged the efforts of Hon. Byekwaso, who acted in her absence, and commended her for doing her best. She clarified that she was not banned from the team during her leave and had actually remained closely connected to the team throughout the three months.

Addressing her return to office, she asserted that if the government had wanted her to stay away, they had the power to make that decision. However, she returned to continue giving her best for the federation, emphasizing her dedication to fulfilling her responsibilities as voted by the members.

The She Cranes  fly to Cape Town  on Saturday where they kickoff a  friendly games against Barbados and Scotland on 22nd and 26th July respectively in preparation for the World Cup which is 6 days away.
