Uganda Cranes have dropped a place in the latest FIFA World Rankings released on Thursday, falling from 88th to 89th globally after a mixed bag of results in the most recent international window.

The Cranes managed just three points from two FIFA World Cup Qualifier matches played in last month.

A disappointing 3-1 defeat to Mozambique in Cairo was followed by a narrow 1-0 win over Guinea at the Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.

Despite the victory over Guinea, the inconsistent performances were not enough to maintain their position, resulting in the slight dip in rankings.

Uganda, however, did pick up a morale-boosting 2-0 aggregate win over Burundi in the CHAN qualifiers during the same period.

In regional standings, Uganda remains ahead of most East African rivals, with Kenya slipping to 101st, Tanzania at 107th, Rwanda at 130th, and South Sudan trailing at 170th.

Globally, Argentina retained top spot, followed by Spain, France, England, and Brazil in the top five.

Morocco leads the African continent at 12th in the world, with Senegal (19), Egypt (32), and Algeria (36) completing Africa’s top four.
