The 3rd Edition of the High School Lacrosse Super Sixes Tournament concluded successfully on April 5, 2025, at Empower International School in Bujjuko, Mpigi District, marking another milestone in the growth of the sport among Ugandan youth.
The men’s competition featured six teams, including two squads from hosts Empower International School, along with Bombo Army SS, Kigezi High School Kabale, St Mary’s HS Zirobwe, and Kinaawa SS.
In a tightly contested final, Empower International School triumphed over Kigezi High School to claim the men’s championship title.
In the women’s category, four teams competed—two from Empower International, alongside St Mary’s HS Zirobwe and Bombo Army SS. Bombo Army SS emerged victorious, dethroning defending champions St Mary’s Zirobwe to be crowned 2025 winners.
Speaking at the close of the event, host school administrator Aijuka Isaac commended all the participants for their competitive spirit, discipline, and commitment to fair play.
“I thank all the schools and students for a spirited fight and fair representation. Let us continue to participate in such sports for healthy bodies and minds,” he said.
Uganda Lacrosse Association (ULA) President, represented by National Development Director Nsubuga Faisal, also conveyed his appreciation and support for the ongoing development of the sport.
In his message, he emphasized the significance of lacrosse’s inclusion in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games and encouraged stakeholders to remain engaged as the sport gains momentum across the country.
As part of continued efforts to grow the game, organizers confirmed that plans are in place to enhance playing opportunities for young athletes through the national league, which is scheduled to kick off at the end of April 2025.
