Wakiso Giants and Maroons played out an entertaining 3-3 draw at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Wednesday afternoon in a clash that lived up to its pre-match billing.
The hosts got off to a promising start with Abdul Ssemakula breaking the deadlock in the 24th minute, capitalising on a well-worked team move to fire Wakiso Giants ahead.
However, Maroons responded swiftly, with Baden Mujahid Ogama levelling matters in the 39th minute before Brian Nkuubi turned the game around five minutes later with a clinical finish to send the visitors into the break with a 2-1 lead.
Just two minutes into the second half, Raymond Walugembe extended Maroons’ advantage with a composed effort, putting pressure on a Wakiso side fighting to stay above the relegation line.
Steven Bengo’s side, however, showed resilience. Moses Oshaba converted from the spot in the 71st minute after a foul in the box, narrowing the gap.
Three minutes later, Hudson Mbalire struck to complete the comeback and salvage a crucial point for the Purple Sharks.
The result sees Wakiso Giants move to 18 points, still in the relegation zone, while Maroons remain mid-table with 33 points.
