Namuwongo Blazers Crush KIU Titans in 56-Point Blowout to Stay Top

Namuwongo Blazers Basketball Club delivered a commanding performance on Wednesday night at ABJA Park, overpowering the KIU Titans 126-70 in one of the most dominant displays of the 2025 NBL Men’s season so far.

The result sees the Blazers maintain their lead at the top of the table with 10 points from five games, while KIU languish in 11th place with just three points.

The Blazers set the tone early, racing to a 36-14 first-quarter lead and maintaining relentless pressure throughout.

Quarter scores of 36, 28, 28, and 34 highlighted their offensive consistency, as the Nam Blazers shot 54% from the field overall, including a remarkable 65% conversion on two-point attempts and 40% from beyond the arc.

Arthur Wanyoto starred for the Blazers with a standout double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds, earning a game-high performance index of 28.

Henry Ssebagala added 12 points and 3 assists, including a crucial three-pointer that capped off a dominant third quarter. Paul Odong and Wadaya Blair also made significant scoring contributions, underlining the Blazers’ offensive depth.

The Blazers’ team-oriented approach was evident in their 18 total assists and 51 rebounds, compared to KIU’s 6 assists and 33 boards.

The Titans struggled under defensive pressure, committing 26 turnovers that the Blazers ruthlessly punished with fast-break points and transition plays.

KIU’s offensive output was led by Daniel Odonkyero, who scored 18 points, while Bang Difu Desmasiro contributed 11 points and 9 rebounds. Despite some resistance, the Titans were consistently outplayed in nearly every department.

The Blazers also dominated in the paint, registering 48 points, and showcased their speed with 38 fast-break points, exploiting gaps in KIU’s defense throughout the game.

With the win, Nam Blazers remain the early frontrunners in the title race as they continue their unbeaten run. The Titans, meanwhile, will need to regroup quickly to remain in playoff contention.

Action in the NBL Men’s League continues this weekend. On Friday, KCCA Panthers face UCU Canons at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

Saturday features a triple-header with Sommet BC playing Livingstone, City Oilers facing Kampala Rockets, and Victoria Crocs returning to action against JKL Dolphins.
