Son Heung-min Injury Concerns Loom Over Tottenham Ahead of Europa League Showdown

Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min’s fitness has become a focal point for fans and management as the club prepares for the crucial second leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday, April 17.

The South Korean star was rested during Spurs’ recent Premier League visit to Wolves, raising questions about his availability for the European tie.

Manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed Son’s absence was precautionary, citing a foot knock sustained earlier.

“Sonny got a knock on his foot so we’re just being a bit cautious with him. Wilson [Odobert], like I said, we’re managing him at the moment. Both should be available for Thursday,” said Postecoglou, addressing the concerns around his captain’s fitness.

Tottenham’s domestic campaign has been underwhelming, leaving the Europa League as their sole opportunity to salvage a tumultuous season. Despite finishing the first leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a 1-1 draw, the team must now avoid defeat in Germany to keep their 17-year trophy drought from continuing.

Eintracht Frankfurt, buoyed by their strong away performance, will present a formidable challenge.

The bigger picture for Tottenham reveals a team clinging to hope in Europe after finding themselves in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Postecoglou and his players are determined to refocus their energy on the Europa League, with a win in Frankfurt offering a chance to regain momentum and progress to the semi-finals.
