Platinum Credit Heathens RFC will continue their quest to retain the Nile Special Rugby Premiership title when they face Stanbic Black Pirates RFC in the semifinals.
The side, coached by Mohammad Athio, advanced to the final four despite being held to a 10-all draw in the quarterfinal second leg. Their 41-26 win in the first leg proved enough to see them through on aggregate.
Reflecting on the team’s campaign so far, utility back Malcolm Okello acknowledged the challenges they’ve faced.
“We started well but lost track along the way before bouncing back in the quarterfinals. We did well across the two legs against Victoria Sharks,” Okello said.
He emphasized the level of competition this season, noting that consistency is key.
“There’s no easy game this season—teams can surprise you. What matters is stepping up when it counts,” he added.
Looking ahead to the semifinal first leg against 2023 champions Stanbic Black Pirates RFC, Okello stressed the importance of discipline and cohesion.
“Facing Victoria Sharks was tough because we knew each other well. Pirates are another strong side, but we’ll stick to our structure and strategy. We need teamwork and coordination if we’re to win,” he said.
In the other semifinal, Jinja Hippos will go up against KCB KOBs, with both ties set to be broadcast live on NBS Sport.
The first leg of the Semi final will be played on April 26th with the second leg being played on May 3rd.
