St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde and Seroma Christian High School were crowned boys’ and girls’ basketball champions respectively at the 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Mukono Zone championships held at St Mary’s College Lugazi.
The two-day tournament, which tipped off on Good Friday and concluded on Holy Saturday, attracted over 20 schools from Buikwe, Mukono, Lugazi, and Kayunga districts.
In the boys’ final, St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde delivered a commanding performance to defeat Seeta Naama 42-10 and claim the zonal title.
Earlier in the semi-finals, St Cyprian had edged Seeta A-Level Campus 35-26, avenging their previous loss in the Mukono district final. The other boys’ semi-final saw Seeta Naama edge St Balikuddembe SS Kisoga 29-26.
On the girls’ side, Seroma Christian High School battled past Seeta Naama 38-28 in a tightly contested final to secure the title. In the semi-finals, Seroma had beaten St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde 35-24, while Seeta Naama had narrowly defeated Naalya SS 30-28.
Individual accolades went to Ichut Agok of St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde, who was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player in the boys’ category, while Seroma’s Taliba Melissa took the MVP honour among the girls.
St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde, Seeta Naama, Seeta A-Level Campus, and St Balikuddembe SS Kisoga will represent the Mukono Zone in the boys’ national championship.
In the girls’ category, Seroma Christian High School, Seeta Naama, and Naalya SS qualified for the national tournament scheduled to be held in Bukedea district.
