Uganda to Face Five-Team Challenge at Junior Africa Cup as Revised Schedule Released

Uganda’s struggles at the 2025 Junior Africa Cup (Women) continued on Monday morning as they fell to a 5-1 defeat against Zimbabwe in their third group match of the tournament in Windhoek, Namibia.

The result leaves Uganda without a win in the competition and with just one point from three games.

Noeline Natabo scored Uganda’s lone goal in the loss, providing a moment of consolation after Zimbabwe had already established a dominant lead.

The result follows a 5-0 defeat to South Africa on opening day and a goalless draw with Kenya on Saturday evening.

The match against Zimbabwe exposed Uganda’s defensive vulnerabilities, with the southern Africans applying constant pressure and making their superiority count in the final third.

Despite improved ball movement in the second half, Uganda struggled to close the gap as Zimbabwe controlled possession and maintained their attacking rhythm.

Uganda now turns focus to Tuesday’s clash against hosts Namibia, scheduled for 7:00 PM EAT at the Windhoek tournament venue.

With two games left to play in the group stage, the match against Namibia is now a critical opportunity for Uganda to bounce back and fight for a stronger finish in the standings.

The final group match for Uganda will come on Thursday against Zambia. The outcomes of the remaining games will determine Uganda’s ranking and whether they qualify for either the bronze playoff or the tournament final on Friday.
