After a slow start to the season, UCU Canons are finally finding their rhythm.
Back-to-back wins against Sommet and KIU Titans (63-46) have injected confidence into the team, and they’ll be aiming for a third straight victory when they face a struggling Livingstone side tonight.
The game, set for Wednesday at 9 pm, will be played at the Lugogo Indoor Arena and broadcast live on NBS Sport.
UCU’s recent 62-35 demolition of KIU Titans showcased their defensive solidity and offensive firepower.
Ibanda Lwabaga (20 points), Joel Kayiira (12 points, 18 rebounds), and Jimmy Otim (14 points) were instrumental in that win, and they’ll be key again tonight.
Livingstone, however, are in dire straits. Their 81-44 thrashing by Nam Blazers highlighted their struggles, and with just one win in seven games this season, a 71-59 victory over KIU Titans, they desperately need a turnaround.
Diopa Durocher Lukosa (averaging 9 points and 7 rebounds) will need to inspire his team against a UCU side growing in confidence.
Last season’s head-to-head was evenly split UCU won the first leg 68-52, but Livingstone struck back with a 57-45 victory in the return fixture.
However, given their current form, UCU will be heavy favourites.
In the other men’s league games, bottom-placed KIU Titans will seek their first win against newly promoted Rezlife Saints, while Victoria Crocs take on Sommet in a battle of promoted sides at YMCA Wandegeya.
Elsewhere, the women’s league will feature a blockbuster clash between UCU Lady Canons and JT Lady Jaguars at 7 pm, where former teammates now face off in a high-stakes encounter.
Nabisunsa taking on Nkumba Lady Marines and Miracle Eaglets versing Magic Stormers complete the women’s fixtures.
